Breach – Kollapse (Burning Heart Records – 2001)
This one was a total curveball for me. I’d never heard of this band as some of you might have living in Scandinavia. But Breach were and still are something I can’t completely explain, especially on this album. The first song I heard was ‘Mr. Marshall’ and from the intro howls to the synthy breakdown (2:25) I was hooked. This album is full of left turns, but still somehow cohesive. Years after discovering them I found out I’d narrowly missed their reunion show the first time I visited Europe. Bummer for me. They’ve gone on to form a few other bands including Terra Tenebrosa and The Old Wind, but none capture the magic that was Breach.
For Fans Of: Howling swedes.
