CAVE IN – WHITE SILENCE (Hydra Head – 2011)
When I finally caught wind of Cave In I was already late to the party and bitter that no one had put them on my radar sooner. They have many legendary albums (Jupiter), but this was my first taste of them. That cosmic guitar break at 3:57 during ‘Sing My Loves’ destroyed me. I’d never heard something so devastatingly beautiful. To top it off, this album is a multi-headed beast, twisting in and out of so many vibes (including a super Beatles moment) but still sticking together like an elaborate jigsaw puzzle. Do yourself a favour and don’t sleep on this band like I did.
