Convulsing – Grievous (Self-released -2018)
Emotional depth isn’t usually a thing associated with death metal, but this album is drenched in it (and a fair share of reverb). An old friend of mine in Australia once said if I still lived there I would get along with a friend of his called Brendan, the brain behind Convulsing. Fast forward some years and I’m absolutely floored by his output, and his live guitar lessons on Instagram are an inspiration – go follow him at @brndanws while you wait for the penny to drop at 02:35 during ‘Were’.
