ROB:SCURE #58

Die A Legend – Winning (Loyal Blood Records – 2019)

These guys played possibly their last concert ever at Vaterland last year and I’m so glad I was there to witness it. The energy pouring off the stage was electric. For a band that doesn’t do encores, closing the show with a song titled ‘The Lights Go Out!’ was a poetic touch I loved. Inspect it for yourself here: https://youtu.be/rRmftjvuqUw

Fritz (Bookingansvarlig på Vaterland/Bass i Attan) and I have talked about this night and a few like it since as the reason Vaterland exists. That 100 person capacity second floor thrives on the immediacy of artists treading that fine line between intelligent vision and knuckle-dragging heaviness. These guys embody that desperation and I value getting to see them in their many other projects whenever they pass through town (Jabba, Cult Member, etc.). For a country with a population as small as Norway’s, you should all be immensely proud of the wealth of local talent here. Especially in these times, we should be championing home-grown artists and sustaining a strong scene for when we can go back to sweating on each other again.

FFO: Winning.
